We’re aware of an error popup occurring in MTGATracker 4.1.0. The error is benign and can safely be ignored, and has been fixed in the latest release (4.1.2). Unfortunately, we cannot “fix” the current version users have, so everyone will likely experience this issue at least once.

Benign updater error

What is it?

This error popup occurs when MTGATracker successfully checks for updates. It was introduced with 4.x.x, when we moved from AWS-hosted updates to GitHub release-hosted updates (commit). The error occurs because we attempt to check for an update while an update is currently downloading, which causes the second update check to fail to acquire the lock around the electron updater mechanism.

The issue has been fixed in 4.1.2 (commit). Thanks so much to our users who reported this issue in Discord!
